A SCORED SELF-ASSESSMENT
The Hospital AI Readiness Index™
Sixteen questions. Four dimensions. A 0–100 score that tells you whether your health system is ready to put AI to work — and what to fix first. Five minutes, no email required.
Answer honestly for your organization as it operates today, not as the strategic plan describes it. Your score appears instantly and is computed in your browser. Only your anonymous final score is recorded, to build industry benchmarks — never your answers, name, or organization.
DIMENSION 1 OF 4
Workflow visibility
Do you know where the manual work lives?
1. How well is repetitive, manual work documented across your operation?
2. How does your organization handle claim denials?
3. Do you know how many hours per week your staff spend on prior authorization?
4. When two systems don't talk to each other, do you know where staff manually bridge the gap?
DIMENSION 2 OF 4
Financial discipline
Do you measure before you buy?
5. Before a technology purchase, do you record a baseline of what the work costs today?
6. How do you treat vendor performance claims?
7. How are success criteria set for pilots?
8. Do you know what it costs your organization to rework a single denied claim?
DIMENSION 3 OF 4
Governance & ownership
Does every workflow have one owner and one metric?
9. Who owns AI decisions for a given workflow?
10. When automation fails or hits an exception, what happens?
11. How aligned are finance, strategy, and technology before an AI decision?
12. Does your organization stop underperforming projects?
DIMENSION 4 OF 4
Organizational capacity
Can your people absorb the change?
13. How is AI framed to your staff?
14. What does your operating rhythm look like for improvement work?
15. Does your organization have capacity to absorb one focused change right now?
16. What is your track record with workflow automation so far?
Scored in your browser. Only your anonymous final score is recorded for benchmarking.
About the Index
What is the Hospital AI Readiness Index?
A 16-question self-assessment that scores a hospital or health system from 0 to 100 on its readiness to put AI to work in operations. It measures discipline across four dimensions — workflow visibility, financial discipline, governance and ownership, and organizational capacity — rather than technology maturity.
How is the Index scored?
Each question is scored 0 to 3 based on the maturity of your current practice. The total is normalized to a 0–100 scale and mapped to one of four bands: Observer (0–39), Experimenter (40–59), Operator (60–79), and Scaler (80–100).
What is a good score?
Above 60 means you are ready to run a disciplined 90-day AI project. Most organizations land in the 40–59 Experimenter band, which mirrors the industry gap: about 75 percent of health systems use AI somewhere, while most pilots produce no measurable return.
How long does it take?
About five minutes. Your score, band, and dimension breakdown appear instantly — no email, no gate.
Do you collect my answers?
No. Your answers never leave your browser — all scoring happens on your device. The only thing recorded is an anonymous final score and the four dimension totals, which feed the running industry benchmark. No names, no emails, no organizations — nothing that could identify you or your health system.
Why does it measure discipline instead of technology?
Because AI projects rarely fail on technology. They fail on selection, baselines, and ownership — organizations that buy a platform first and go looking for problems second. The technology is the most replaceable part of an AI deployment; the discipline around it is not.
